About Teresa and Ióga Care and Connections
Hi, I’m Teresa
I am a Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator. I am a Dru Yoga Facilitator with a particular focus on health.
As well as general Dru classes, my classes specialise in Back Care and Wellbeing
I am also an Embodied Yoga Facilitator.
MORE ABOUT ME…
My background is in Health with qualifications across a suite of Nursing specialties. I also have a background in Community Development with experience in Refugee Health.
I am an advocate for social justice and human rights.
Witnessing and experiencing my fair share of trauma during my career, I see yoga as a powerful tool to give people agency in informing and driving their own wellness and recovery journey.
To facilitate opportunities for people through yoga to experience ways of being which feel connected, supported, balanced and foster a sense of wellbeing and healing.
I specialise in
Acknowledgement of trauma
I acknowledge that the experience of trauma takes many forms, including prejudice and discrimination, which can be about:
- a person’s age
- socio-economic class
- immigration status
- physical embodiment
- cognitive and physical abilities
- use of mental health and or other services
I also recognise that to minimise or silence the voice of a trauma survivor is itself an act of trauma, and I further acknowledge the survivor’s lived experiences.
Diversity and Inclusion Statement
I commit to valuing diversity and inclusion and actively address stigma and discrimination in all its forms, including:
I commit to taking time to reflect, be aware of my privilege and explore my unconscious biases.
